Gunjan Utreja, who was last seen in Colors show Aamna Saamna, will be seen playing superstar Abhay Kapoor opposite Drashti Dhami in Madhubala. Gunjan is very excited to be working for one of the most popular show on Television and he shared his excitement with us.

Tell us about your character… 

Abhay Kapoor is this flamboyant superstar. He's arrogant and extrovert by nature, but there are other shades to him too. He likes to talk to people around but at  the same time maintains distance. Madhubala is shown to be a die-hard fan of Abhay. 

So how were you shortlisted for this role? 

I got a call from the casting agency this month. I had to audition for it five times because the makers wanted to ensure that the actor had a strong personality and could be paired with Drashti. Then I flew down from Delhi over night and gave my look test till 4:30 am and same day 7 am was my shoot. So yeah it indeed has been an eventful start for me.

Are you nervous to step in an already popular show and opposite an already popular actress?

To be very honest there is no pressure. In fact I am looking forward to this opportunity I have got. I want to enjoy it and not take any stress. I am an artist and I just want to be true to my art and perform my best.

What can we expect from you? 

I'm a reserved person by nature, unlike Abhay Kapoor. So there lies the challenge. I know I'll do justice to the role as I was born to entertain.

You have been hosting events and shows for almost a decade now. Would you rather act or anchor shows?

  For me any and every platform is a medium to entertain people. But since I love anchoring, I'd love to host TV reality shows someday.
