COLORS flagship show Balika Vadhu’s search for its new Anandi ends at Toral Rasputra. Toral who shot to fame with the show, Dhoom Machaao Dhoom will be seen portraying the role of a mature Anandi hereafter. She replaces Pratyusha Banerjee as the lead protagonist who due to health reasons could not continue with the show.
An iconic character on Indian television, Toral fits the role of Anandi perfectly with her expressive eyes, indulgent smile and her serene personality. Being instrumental in taking Shiv and Anandi’s relationship forward, Toral will be seen stepping in to Anandi’s role starting next week.
Speaking about this new role, Toral said, “It’s an opportunity of a lifetime to play Anandi, a character loved by the whole nation. Anandi is larger than life; you’ve seen many characters portray different stages of her life. I am looking forward to playing the character of mature Anandi. It is a huge responsibility, and I am nervous as well as excited about it. I hope the audience connect with me and extends the same warmth and love that Anandi has received so far.”
She further added, “I have always followed Balika Vadhu and this is one I consider as a dream role. I hope I am able to do justice and live up to the audience’s expectations of seeing their Anandi in me”
Balika Vadhu — Kachchi Umar Ke Pakke Rishte premiered on 21st July, 2008 on COLORS. The story highlighted various social evils and issues like child marriage, adult literacy, girl education and remarriage. The show has been running for over four years and completed over 1200 episodes so far and has been consistently rated as one of the top shows on Indian television.
