Colors’ hit series Na Aana is Des Laado is soon going to come to an end. Set in rural Haryana, the show focused on female infanticide and spoke about the practice of girl killing in Veerpur. Meghna Malik, who played the role of Ammaji, became the voice of the show and it became a cult within families. Everyone waited to see Ammaji’s new tactics to gain more power and other characters like Sia (Natasha Sharma), Raghav (Aditya Redij) and Amba (Shikha Singh) provided the initial impetus to the show making it a nationwide hit.
Initially the show focused on Ammaji who took undue advantage of her powers and in her household too, bahus were given no respect and she didn’t hesitate to cross any line to attain power. But when Sia entered the village she took it on herself to change the scenario.
The show tracks the journey of Ammaji who was once a stern Sarpanch and when enemies cropped up to create problems the same Ammaji protected her family and saved the lives of her grand daughters Diya and Janvi. The show took a leap and is now based on the younger generation and Ammaji still rules the household. Allotted to prime time slot, Na Is Des Laado sparked nationwide conversations over female infanticide and brought up many important questions.
Commenting on the wrapping up of ‘Na Aana Is Des Laado’, Prashaant Bhatt, Weekday Programming Head, COLORS said, “We do not believe in stretching a story unnecessarily, rather end at an appropriate note. We are happy with the recognition and appreciation that the show has received so far and believe that it is time to wrap up the show. Drawing curtains to this fiction show makes us proud about having created such a bold series and we promise to continue to innovate and experiment in our future programming as well.”
