Indian’s most favourite comedy star, the queen of humour and now one of the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa contestants, Bharti Singh gifted herself an Audi Q5!
The artist, who has been working round the clock from past few years made a big name for herself in the television industry. But, to wake up to this day was not a hunky dory affair.
Bharti Singh was born and brought-up in Amritsar, in a middle class family with two more siblings. As they say, you don’t choose talent, talent chooses you, Bharti was chosen by two! She had a gift of gab along with an inclination towards sports. She made latter her passion but never let the former die.
Despite rocky financial conditions and a lot of responsibilities on her (she lost her father at an early age), she went on to become a gold medalist in national level pistol shooting and archery. But, being a sportsperson required taking care of one’s health and nutrition, whereas, Bharti’s family was struggling for a square meal. Milk worth five rupees was a luxury for them. Bearing the family’s responsibility on her shoulder, she left her training mid-way, polished her acting and oratory skills and started giving stage performances.
While, a height of 5ft 1 and a weight of almost 80 kgs, could have been a huge discouragement for any other acting aspirant, Bharti made these shortcomings her biggest assets. She made fun of herself and put the stage on fire. Punjab’s local star’s popularity brought her down to Mumbai and her dreams got wings when she got a chance to perform in Great India Laughter Challenge. But her dreams were insatiable, she worked harder, made her day stretch beyond 24 hours, gave sleepless nights to her passion and thirst to make it big. With popularity comes expectation and she dealt with both. The road became rockier and the challenge tougher but she became resilient albeit with stronger conviction.
Now that the entire country has titled her as the invincible Queen of comedy, she wants to relive her first dream, shooting and archery. Meanwhile, we will see her shake a leg on the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa dance floor soon in a different avataar than Lalli, her favourite character till date.
Well Bharti, Audi is just the beginning, we wish you more achievements and success, as you deserve every bit of it.
