She’s not just known as the ‘dhak dhak’ girl. Apart form the obvious song from Beta, she made our hearts go ‘dhak dhak’ every time she appeared on screen. Although she made her debut in the 1984 film Abodh, it was the 1988 film, Tezaab, which gave her recognition.

She’s one of those rare actresses who is not just beautiful, but can also act very well.  She was seen in several hit films Dil, Saajan, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Raja and Devdas. Not just that, she’s also a trained classical dancer. Her songs Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai and Ek Do Teen are etched into our hearts forever. The famous Indian painter, Maqbool Fida Husain was also fida on her and she was his muse for a very long time.

The actress broke many hearts the day she married Dr Shriram Madhav Nene in 1999. The couple has two children. They resided in the United States before moving to India in 2011.

The graceful actress is now all set for her comeback with Ishqiya's sequel Dedh Ishqiya and Anubhav Sinha's Gulab Gang.

Currently she is Judging the dance reality show on Colors TV, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
