We saw him get all real in Bigg Boss 6 and after enjoying a brief hiatus from TV Vishal Karwal is back in Colors’ popular show Rangrasiya. He’s portraying the character of Shantanu who is Paro’s ex-husband’s brother and is back to avenge his brother’s death. Let’s get to know more about the character from the man himself!
You’re back with Colors post Bigg Boss. How has the association been?
I really enjoy working with Colors. Out of the 11 shows I have done in my career, 9 shows have been handled by Viacom 18. Other than that, honestly I’m doing this show for producer Mr. Saurabh Tiwari. I have worked with him previously and I have immense respect for him So when he approached me for this role I said why not!
Tell us something in detail about your character?
My character comes in the story as Paro’s ex-husband’s brother. In a shootout at the border Rudra killed my character’s brother and Shantanu is back to take revenge from both Rudra and Paro. He is upset about the fact that Paro married her husband’s killer and is enjoying a blissful marital life. In upcoming episodes Shantanu will be seen meeting Rudra’s family and while on face he will be at his sweetest best, on the back of his mind he would always be plotting for his vicious plans. A lot of twists and turns coming the audiences’ way!
Do you enjoy playing negative roles?
I was actually looking to do a negative role, something I haven’t done before in my career. Saurabh Sir told me this role will be very challenging and I will enjoy it so I decided to give it a go.
How was your first day on sets of Rangrasiya?
Everyone on sets was so welcoming and made me feel comfortable. Considering they have already spent some good 6 months together shooting, not once did they let me feel that. Also, it’s always been a pleasure to work with Colors.
Your thoughts on the show protagonists Ashish and Sanaya
Ashish comes across as a very simple, down-to-earth person and in contrast Sanaya is spontaneous, fun and talkative! Both are extremely professional and working with them is turning out to be a fun experience.
Where else can we see you?
Post Bigg Boss I took a break from TV to concentrate on films. I recently concluded work on a Punjabi film which will release by late August. I also worked in a Bollywood movie titled 1920 London which will also hit theatres soon. So a lot of projects are in pipeline and I’m really looking forward to do good work in films as well.
