This season’s Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa has not just been promising top-notch entertainment but has been delivering it too week after week. With all the interesting challenges the judges keep dishing out to the contestants, this time the level was upped all the more. The challenge was to have a dramatic costume along with keeping up the dance up-to the mark in its eighth week.

High on drama, this week’s Nautanki special of  Jhalak Dikhla Jaa saw its contestants present themselves like never before to the judges and the audiences alike. Staying true to the theme of the week, the contestants were seen slipping into various dramatic characters, in extravagant costumes, dancing against glittery backdrops and dazzling lights.

Lauren and Puneet surprised everyone with their fire and fly act swaying gracefully to the romantic number Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai, and even attaining a standing ovation for the same; the very versatile Shaan was seen slithering rather smoothly on the dance floor on Roshni Se Bhare Bhare, dressed from top to bottom in a snake skin costume, looking every bit like one. “I have seen how snakes dance in real – entangling and sliding over each other effortlessly, and this is exactly how they perform”, Remo D’souza was heard saying after his act.

Our very own Madhubala aka Drashti Dhami was no less competition. Dressed elaborately as a vibrant multi-colored bird, she was seen executing some never seen before lifts while performing a fiery Afro dance, getting a full 30 for her act. Mukti Mohan got completely seeped into the character of Shiva while carrying out a powerful tandav act, impressing one and all. “You had the exact serenity and calmness of Lord Shiva on your face  throughout your performance”, Madhuri Dixit remarked after Mukti’s performance.

Jhalak’s in-house hero, Siddharth Shukla managed to impress everyone with his robotic moves on Jaan mein Dum. He did not refrain from painting his full body including his face in metallic grey.
