At a young age, Jayati Bhatia is playing the role of Mataji who has now turned par-dadi on the show. Doesn’t she feels strange about that? “When Rashmi offered me the show, I was offered a choice between two characters – one of Mataji and other one was a younger role. Very excitedly, I gave the look test for the younger character. But finally the makers said that they want me to play Mataji. I took up the role and today I thank my stars to have opted for this role,” she explains.
Jayati takes her character very seriously. On the set, she is always into her Mataji Avataar. “Since, I come from the theatre background, I take my character very seriously and I live it every minute. I feel it’s my responsibility to take care of the entire Bhardwaj family. So I behave in the similar way on the set. If anyone has a problem I try and talk and sort it. All the kids treat me with respect,” she explains.
But despite her Mataji Avataar, Jayati is the item girl on the set. She is popular to dance on the latest item songs. “I am the one to dance on the popular item numbers on the set. From Chikni Chameli to Tamanche pe Disco, these days we have been dancing on Sunny Sunny song from the movie Yaarian and tune maari entriyaan to dil mein baji ghantiyaan. Whenever we have time, we play songs and dance. I can’t remember the lyrics so it’s Roli’s (Avika Gor) duty to teach me the lyrics. Its lots of fun,” Jayati laughs.
Well, this pardadi is really cool! Mataji hats off to you!
