Who is he
Gaurav Gera, actor, comedian, anchor and master at makeovers
Gaurav Gera. Who?
Put your hands together for the very beautiful, charming, graceful, and hot Gaurav Gera, for 2013 has been his year! Confused?
Well, Gaurav Gera has always been a known face in the comedy space, but this year, he made history in July by playing a woman not in one or two episodes, but for an entire show- Mrs. Pammi Pyarelal. The cute and dimply actor transformed into the sexy and very feminine Pammi, with her saree, jewellery and nakhras in place!
Beginnings of the talented actor
Gaurav did his schooling and was a student of fashion designing in Delhi, but realized that acting was his passion. He came to Mumbai and did a lot of roles in TV before he hit the jackpot as the simple Nandu in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi. He has also acted in a lot of other shows like Baat Hamari Pakki Hai, and the lead role of Tota in the lighthearted show Tota weds Maina. He has also tried his luck in Bollywood, with roles in films like Neal n’ Nikki`, MP3 and Dasvidaniya. In 2013, he wowed everyone by transforming into a perfectly pouty woman ‘Pammi’ in Mrs. Pammi Pyarelal. Currently he’s seen as the fun and quirky Dulari in Comedy Nights with Kapil.
The man who makes being a woman look easy
In July 2013, he went from Gaurav to the sultry Pammi, taking all efforts to become a woman, complete with glittering sarees and chandelier earrings to bright lipstick to get that perfect pout. He even gave interviews where he revealed that he has newfound respect for actresses after knowing how difficult is it for them to look good in front of the camera! Even after talking about his difficulties while being a ‘she’, Gaurav is attempting it again by becoming Dulari in Comedy Nights with Kapil. Dulari set the social media aflame even before she came on stage, and didn’t disappoint as she had fun with the Nawab Saif Ali Khan on the show.
A master of all trades
Gaurav Gera is a pro at playing cute and lovable characters. He’s also a great stage actor, with his ‘Jhumroo’ act in the Kingdom of Dreams completing 500 shows in December. He’s also a great presenter, having anchored the show ‘Bathroom Singer’. But now Gaurav is known for his brilliant skill at disguising himself as a woman, having played both Pammi and Dulari with aplomb.
What to expect from Gaurav in 2014
It’s definitely been a yin and yang year for our newsmaker Gaurav Gera, and we hope that he carries this gender confusion, we mean, rib tickling performances, well into 2014.
