In the past year he has made us laugh, laugh and laugh till our jaws began to hurt and stomach churned with pain and eventually earned all our love and support. Comedian Kapil Sharma lived the best of his career in 2013 and achieved some of his biggest dreams. His work was so highly appreciated that he was awarded Indian of the Year in Entertainment category by CNN-IBN.
The beginning:
Coming from a humble background Kapil made his way up the success ladder solely by his talent. He began his career as a stand- up comedian and won the third season of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2008. From 2010-2012 he won all seasons of Comedy Circus thereby making his place secure in the industry. In 2009 he co-hosted Colors’ Chotte Ustaad along with Juhi Parmar. Other than comedy, singing is also one of Kapil’s fine talents which he showed off in the show Star Ya Rockstar emerging later as the first runner up.
Where he left his mark in 2013:
After seeing him do such mind blowing comedy his entire career it became kind of imperative for him to launch his own comedy show. And thank God for that! On 22nd June, 2013 Kapil Sharma launched his first production venture titled ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ and at that point there was no looking back. The show created new records and soon became one of the top rated non-fiction show on TV. Love of fans, support from the film industry and hard work by cast and crew helped in making this the number one comedy show on TV.
Each Sunday we all are glued to our TV sets to watch Kapil entertain us and bring out the candid side of celebrity guests. Even the rare ones like Ajay Devgn and Sunny Deol have been seen letting their guard down in Kapil’s show and enjoying a hearty laugh. But while everything was running smoothly for him a mishap disturbed the harmony. Kapil’s set caught fire and the whole set burned down to ashes putting him in major crisis. But as they say, “where there’s a will there’s a way.” In order to continue shooting, Kapil began making use of Bigg Boss sets and within weeks his new set was up and ready to run. He came back with a bang and gave a message to everyone that the show must go on!
While one problem got over another one appeared from within the professional family when Sunil Grover a.k.a Gutthi quit the show due to creative differences. This put the show in jeopardy for a while but being the anchor of this venture, Kapil sailed through this interruption and continued delivering one funny episode after the other.
Other than doing his own show, Kapil was also seen co-hosting Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 6 with Manish Paul. They can even be called ‘deadly duo’ as when they get together you’re sure to get a laugh attack.
In the New Year:
Recent promos of Comedy Nights with Kapil suggest that the show is back again to its original slot of Saturdays-Sundays which only means fun-filled weekends! And right in the beginning of the New Year we will see Dancing Queen Madhuri Dixit share the stage with Kapil making the rest of the year seem more and more promising!
