The television world has gotten a new couple to drool over in the form of Zain and Aliya in Beintehaa. Their sizzling chemistry makes it difficult to believe that it is the first television show for both Harshad and Preetika. And the list of newcomers ends here as the rest of the cast is full of veterans who have been around in the industry for the longest time.
Take Suchitra Pillai for example. The actress, who plays Zain’s scheming mother Suraiya has been a VJ and model in the initial days of her career. She later moved on to acting and was seen in movies like Dil Chahta Hai, Page 3 and Fashion. Suchitra, who is mother to a young daughter, finds playing a mother very challenging. She says, “It’s very interesting as I’m playing not only a mother but a grandmother. Being a mother in real life helps in playing the daadi, if not the mom.”
Playing her righteous husband is another senior actor Naved Aslam, who has a lot of experience playing father figures. Apart from having acted in films like Sehar, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai and Chhal, he has acted in 5 TV serials and plays, after which he took up the role of Usman in Beintehaa.
Moving to the Haider family, Rituraj Singh who plays Ghulam Haider is a seasoned TV actor with his fair share of experience with daily soaps. Same goes for Riva Bubber, who has worked in 5 daily soaps, and is known for playing bubbly and positive characters.
In Beintehaa, Riva essays the role of Aliya’s mother, a simple and loving woman. Riva, who is quite young in real life, plays the older character with ease. Riva says, “I don’t have a problem being called Ammi on screen. As long as I’m not called Ammi off screen, I’m ok with it!”
So it’s safe to say that Beintehaa has just the right mix of new faces and old talent, all of whom are playing their parts perfectly. Which is your favourite character amongst the senior lot? Tell us through your comments!
